The Manure Composting Network is simple
and a great way to recycle nutrients and organic matter.
Would you like
to get manure or compost for your garden?
To obtain some manure or compost view the
Manure Sources
List and contact the supplier that you would like to get
manure from. It is best to schedule a time when they are home
to pick up the manure.
Make sure you have access to a
pick up truck or a trailer and towing vehicle to get your manure
home. The trunk of a car is not necessarily the best for
hauling manure unless you enjoy the smell.
Remember that this is manure
and it should be treated as such. It is recommended to compost
the manure before application. The composting process not only
helps to kill weed seeds but it also stabilizes the nutrients and
breaks down the particle size for better nutrient uptake by plants.
If you need technical
assistance in how to compost the manure contact the district for
guidance or search the Internet.
For more information on using manure as a fertilizer
click here for the Fertilizing with Manure
Publication from Washington State University. The
publication is a PDF file.
How Much Fertilizer Shall I Use is
a great publication from WSU Extension to convert tons or pounds of
fertilizer or manure into cups or per plant amount.
Do you have extra manure or
