The early blue violet is a perennial that spreads by seeds and rhizomes and is a great addition to gardens. Pale to deep violet flowers with a white patch, purple veins at the base of lower 3 petals. Veins are visible to bees in the ultraviolet as nectar guides.

These adorable, unassuming violets come from native prairie and open woodlands and are highly adapted to our local environment.  Water if needed in their first summer after which they are low maintenance.
